Laser Cutting FAQs: Pricing, Materials, Files, and Turnaround Times
Do you cut metal, glass, or stone?
NO. CO2 laser specializes in wood, acrylic, MDF, plywood, felt, etc. Metal requires a fiber laser.
We can, though, engrave on glass and stone but the pieces have to be able to fit into our machine (size and weight).
Why don't you stock all acrylic colours?
To ensure premium quality, fresh stock, and accurate color matching for custom jobs, we order specialized acrylic (Perspex) only after the order is confirmed.
What type of file do you need?
Vector files are required: SVG, DXF, or AI. We can work from a JPEG or sketch, but this requires design time (refer to Custom Design Services).
I only have a JPEG/PNG. Can you help?
YES. Our in-house design service is dedicated to converting raster files into machine-ready vectors. This guarantees cut quality.
How is your quote calculated?
Pricing is based on Machine Time (laser speed/power/length of cut line) + Design Time (if required) + Material Cost. Intricate designs take longer than simple ones.
What is your typical turnaround time?
Depends on order size, current queue, and material sourcing. Small runs (under 50 units) are typically 3-5 working days from artwork approval. We always give an estimated completion date.
Can you help with final assembly or wiring?
YES. We partner with local artisans (certified electricians) to manage specialized finishes, assembly, and wiring for projects like our custom Lamp Shades.
Do you offer delivery nationwide?
Yes, we can arrange secure courier service (provided by The Courier Guy) across South Africa, or you can arrange collection.
